Camphill Communities of Ireland (CCoI) supports people with physical/intellectual disabilities and autism. CCoI operates Residential and Day services across 15 locations, in which residents and day-attendees are supported to live an ordinary life, a life like any other.

Camphill Community Kyle is a warm, rural residential service supporting 15 adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling, connected lives within a peaceful countryside setting. Located at Coolagh, Callan, Co. Kilkenny (Eircode: R95 HN82), the community forms part of Camphill Communities of Ireland’s unique person-centred model of shared living, working and learning.

Set on approximately 22 acres of scenic grassland, Kyle provides a homely and supportive environment across five residential homes — Ard Luí, Tigh Eoin, Cherry Moon, Dalys and Bogha Baistí — where residents are encouraged to discover their strengths, pursue their interests and actively participate in community life.

The community is closely connected to the Southern Region Day Supports and offers a wide range of meaningful and creative activities, including: Weaving and Basketry, Art ,Farming workshops and participation in the My Dream Job Programme (PUBL/EU funded). Residents also attend additional day support services such as Kcat Art studio, Slievenamon and Journeyman Day services and supported with continued learning, skill development and social inclusion.

Kyle has a strong connection to the land and surrounding rural environment. While the farmland is currently leased to local farmers, the community maintains its roots in agriculture and nature-based living, fostering opportunities for outdoor engagement, wellbeing and connection to the natural world.

Camphill Kyle is currently seeking Social Care Assistants to join our team. Job Title: Social Care Assistant

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Fulltime (40 hours per week)

Salary: €34,200 – €42,346 per annum

What you will need:

  • Hold a minimum QQI Level 5 Major Award on the QQI Framework – BA in Social Care Studies or equivalent qualification in Community/Health or Social Care.
  • Have 1 years’ experience of working with vulnerable adults or adults with intellectual disabilities
  • An understanding of current policy and developments at national and sectoral level in relation to Social Care within disability services.
  • An ability to follow plans and methods to meet the ongoing needs of the individuals supported.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Proficient IT skills relevant to the role, to include Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Teams.
  • A full driver’s license and availability of own car is an essential requirement.
